Squirrel Hunting on Man Cat Monday

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your trusty doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I saw Fatty White-ears the squirrel this morning. He had the nerve to jump right up on the window birdie feeder! I barked him away. But he came back later to snitch seeds from the ground.

I went out and did a thorough exploration for the Evil Squirrel Cartel footy-prints.

Pear tree and squirrel grand larceny staging area.

Woodpile chipmunk and mousie apartments and hawthorn tree (property of the Stodgy Robin Society.)

Stomping through ghostwriter's iris bed.

Sparrows Inc. stick pile conference center and party house.

Stinky squirrel tracks! Pffft! But no squirrels!

NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH

We interrupt you regularly scheduled program for this fast breaking news story.

I just found out that today is Man Cat Monday! Wow! I didn't know there was such a day! Well, my kitty cat cousins Tiberius and Hannibal are celebrating by sleeping.

Big sister Maddie cat (AKA The Kitten Overlord) is not putting up with slumbering man cats.

Get up and catch something you lazy bums!

And no, Hannibal, a squeaky toy doesn't count!

Um, you know, all squeaky toys should be remanded to my custody for de-stuffing and squeaker removal. I'll be waiting.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.

Saturday Already?

Greetings fellow doggies, kitties and humans. This is The Daily Bone and I am your diligent doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Ghostwriter is having a hard time keeping up with the days. She can't believe it's already Saturday again! I say she should quit looking at calendars, like me, and stop worrying about what day it is. The only important thing about Saturday to me is that it's time for the yum yum report.

Here we have some simple things that are good on a cold day.

Chicken soup, and grilled Swiss cheese sandwich.

Home made chili on rice, with cheese, and chips.

Spanakopitas, and salad with dolmades
and Greek dressing.

Chicken marsala, noodles, and vegies.

Here's a submission from my kitty cat cousin Maddie. Do you see her?

Roast chicken, olives and cheese, and bread.

Sparrows Incorporated has been having a daily feast at our window birdie feeder.

Dad puts peanuts in there every morning for the blue jays. They usually snap them up pretty quickly before the Evil Squirrel Cartel even thinks about coming around.

Those that do, get chased up the tree by yours truly. The leaves are almost gone from the silver maple so now I can see him up there. That demented squirrel has no choice but to sit in the cold wind and listen to me barking. Bwahahaha!

Now for a few food-related funnies.

Yum.

Oooooo! Look what ghostwriter just took out of the oven! Chicken and biscuits!

I'd better practice my best begging face for this!

Thursday Night News

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your savvy doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Look look look lookie look at my new squeaky toy! It's supposed to be indestructible! (We'll just see about that!)

After several days, I managed to pull out some stuffing and the squeaker. But most of it is still intact.

Do you know who got me this new squeaky toy? I got it from my Jessy human who came to visit me all the way from Florida! She was here for six days and I was pampered the whole time!

Yeah, scratch behind that right ear. Ahhhh.

I was sad that she had to go back home today to nice, sunny, warm Florida.

Woops!

I don't blame her because it's been cold, cold, cold here in Western New York! One minute it's dark and dreary, and the next it's sunny.

Well, mostly it's been gray and miserable.

Garden Buddha managed to cover himself with leaves to keep warm.

There have been lots of birdies around.

Sparrows Incorporated.

Dad worked hard to get the lawn mowed for the last time this season. He found another wooly bear caterpillar. I heard that the length of the orange strip indicates how long the winter will be. Ghostwriter says that's just an old wive's tale. But I think she was a bit worried. That's a pretty big orange stripe on this wooly bear!

After the photo session, we put him back in the leaf litter to go on his way.

It's now been six weeks since ghostwriter got her new left knee. She goes to physical therapy twice a week where they put her through all kinds of contortions. Today there were three other people there who all had left knee replacements. Ghostwriter said it was the left knee club.

She had to write down her physical therapy goals. One of them was to be able to take me for a walk around the block! Wow! I hope she reaches that goal!

No Flowers This Friday

Hello friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your cheerful doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I am sorry to say that we have absolutely no flowers today. But look what we got instead! Snow!

Hooray!

The snow plow went by this morning too, but all he did was drop a little salt on the roads.

It's been windy and super sunny, but still cold enough that the snow didn't melt.

Ghostwriter was not very happy about it. She had to clean snow and ice off her car this morning so she could go to physical therapy. (Dad is out of town today—or else she would have had him do this—but he'll be back tonight.) But she survived. She even survived a whole bunch of new exercises and stretches for her new knee!

Anyway, so instead of flowers, we're going to show you some pretty pictures of the snow.

I wonder if the snow will still be here tomorrow?

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
